Höfn, Iceland | March 2023

Even before taking a trip to Iceland, it has always been a goal of mine to capture this photo. Just outside of Höfn, a fishing village located in the southeast corner of the country, you’ll find the Vestrahorn mountain. My group of friends separated to explore this picturesque location, and I climbed over the black sand dunes to find the perfect angle. The light started fading, the mountain peaks were being swallowed by moody clouds, and the icy winds blasted me with sand. I knew I had limited time to capture my shot. At the top of one of the largest dunes, I turned to face the mountain and raised the viewfinder to my eye. As I pressed the shutter button and lowered my camera, I knew I had just captured the shot I always dreamed of.
